An important component of studies at the Faculty of Philology is practical training. This year, the leading specialists of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies, master’s students Oleksandra Kuzyshyn (UMLf-21m) and Solomiya Rybchak (UMLs/o-21m) underwent industrial practice at the Faculty of Philology (assistant, pedagogical, linguistic/literary). For masters of the 2nd year of the specialty “035 Philology (Ukrainian language and literature)”, practice began on 04.09 and lasted until 30.09, and for the specialty “014 Secondary education (Ukrainian language and literature) – from 11.09 to 06.10. At the beginning of practice, a meeting was organized, during which methodologists of the department together with students discussed further work and the specifics of practice, shared important experience of their pedagogical activities, and gave useful advice.
Master’s students conducted interesting classes with students of higher education. Oleksandra Kuzyshyn held two lecture classes for fourth-year students of the Faculty of Philology (UMLs/o-41) majoring in “014 Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature)” on the topic “Literary Theory in the System of Main Literary Disciplines” (05.09) and “Phonics and its role in the formation of artistic value” (27.09) under the leadership of Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor R. The scientific supervisor of the master’s program is V.M. Pitel, a candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language. Students-interns were convinced that industrial practice by profession (assistant, pedagogical, linguistic/literary) at the university contributes to the deepening and systematization of theoretical knowledge of specialized disciplines and enables them to be applied in practice. Thanks to the opportunity to observe the work of the teachers, the master’s students managed to conduct classes independently, and the work on the development of lesson notes and their direct conduct enriched their pedagogical experience and made it clear that it is necessary to continue to improve the skills of working with student audiences and expand their professional competence.
The leading specialists of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies have achievements on the scientific front as well. The main theses of their reports at the reported scientific student conference, which took place on April 6, 2023, were published in the collection of student scientific works “Eureka – XXIV”. Oleksandra Kuzyshyn prepared an article on the topic “Discussion between Lev Krevza and Zachary Kopystensky in the context of the development of polemical literature of the beginning of the 17th century.” (supervisor – doctor of philological sciences, professor R. V. Pykhmanets). Rybchak Solomiya under the supervision of V.M. Pitel, candidate of philological sciences, assistant professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language. prepared a study on the topic “Semantics of personal names in Yury Vinnychuk’s novel Tango of Death”.
