On November 23 and 30, candidate of philological sciences, assistant professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language, director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies Greshchuk Valentyna Vasylivna and leading specialist of the same Institute Rybchak Solomiya had the opportunity to visit the department of scientific of medical literature, which opened recently in the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. Franko. The library staff kindly told the students about the foundation of the department, introduced them to the book and magazine collections. Those seeking education participated in the cognitive quiz “Do you know medicinal plants?”, discussed the benefits and uses of medicinal plants, caring for the gifts of nature, and filled out reading tickets for library users. After visiting the library, the undergraduate students received a creative task, which consisted in clarifying the role of the library and librarians during the war. This is how students share their impressions:

“I recently visited the library, which is located not far from the monument to T. Shevchenko. My group was kindly greeted by two girls who are making great efforts to preserve Ukrainian history and language. It is worth noting that the library is aimed at readers who like medicine, but this is only at first glance. On the way to the library, I did not think that I would pick up anything interesting for myself, I really did not care about the achievements of medicine, but how deeply I was wrong. After looking through their collection, albeit a small one, I found a variety of books: fiction, linguistics , historical… And it was they who made me think about the true role of a librarian. It was this library that made me leave Earth for a moment, plunge into the world of dreams and something unattainable. Friendly people, sincere smiles, funny conversations and interesting information are what sometimes not enough for all of us”.
Lyudmila Vakiv (UMLF-41)
“Student life is not only dreams, seminars, practical classes, passing exams and writing scientific papers, but also the opportunity to visit places that leave pleasant memories. One of these places was the Department of Scientific Medical Literature of the I.Frank University of Medical Sciences, which is my group visited last week. We were met by friendly female employees and told about the intricacies and complexities of the work of a librarian. Despite the fact that the department has only been open for a year, they have been able to do a tremendous job. It is interesting that not only medical students, teachers, doctors come here, but and people who are simply interested in medicine. Here everyone can find something for themselves: a book, a magazine or a newspaper.”
