On October 22-23, the International Scientific Conference “Languages and Linguistics in the 21st Century: New Phenomena – New Tasks” was held to mark the 85th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Philology, Professor, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Nina Fedorivna Klymenko.
On October 22, before the start of the plenary session, all participants had the opportunity to watch a film about Nina Fedorivna, after which the Director of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philology, Professor Pavlo Yukhymovych Hrytsenko solemnly opened the conference. Drahicevic Raina – Doctor of Philology, Professor of the University of Belgrade (Serbia), Head of the Commission on Slavic Word Formation at the International Committee of Slavists, Head of the Union of Slavic Societies of Serbia, addressed all those present with a welcoming speech. Nina Fedorivna’s daughters – Skybytska Nadiya Vasylivna and Klymenko Oksana Fedorivna – addressed the participants with warm words.
At the plenary session, the report “Possibilities and linguistic prospects of the dictionary “Hutsul dialect vocabulary and phraseology in the Ukrainian literary language” was delivered by Vasyl Vasylyovych Greshchuk, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, and Valentyna Vasylivna Greshchuk, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language. The following presented their scientific works: Svitlana Yakivna Yermolenko (Doctor of Philology, Professor, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, Chief Researcher of the Department of Stylistics, Language Culture and Sociolinguistics of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv) “Categories of Bookishness/Conversationality in Modern Lexicographic Practice”; Kateryna Hryhorivna Gorodenska (Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Grammar and Scientific Terminology of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv) “Recent Borrowings in the System of Word-Formation Means of the Ukrainian Literary Language of the 21st Century: Status and Spelling”; Dragičević Raina (Doctor of Philology, Professor, University of Belgrade (Serbia) “Color Names in the Serbian and Ukrainian Associative Dictionary”. After the announcement of all the reports, the participants began a lively discussion.
The work of the conference was also planned in three sections. Their topics were diverse:
Section 1. Form and Semantics of Language Units in Dictionaries and Texts: Modernity and History.
Section 2. Linguistic Picture of the World: Problems of Analysis and Lexicography.
Section 3. Terminological Studies in the 21st Century: New Problems and Research Methods.
Sectional sessions of the conference were also planned for October 23.
