The International Dialectological Conference took place

Today, September 16, the director of our Institute took part in the International Scientific Conference “State and Prospects of Modern Ukrainian Dialectology” (to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Dzendelivsky). Valentyna Greshchuk made a report on “Dialect vocabulary in the poetic texts of Petro Midyanka.”

Welcoming remarks at the plenary session were made by the co-chairman of the Organizing Committee, director of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Philology, Professor Pavlo Hrytsenko. All participants of the conference honored the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian linguist, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Founder of the Transcarpathian Dialectological School Yosyp Dzendelivsky, and represented the results of their research in the field of dialectology, duly substantiated their integration into the European world.

In particular, the reports of the following prominent scholars were interesting: Professor Michael Moser’s “Grammar of the Russian Language by Ivan Garayda” in 1941 and the Dialects of Transcarpathia” (Vienna, Austria); Professor Valeriy Mokienko “Ukrainian paremias in the dictionary of F. Shimkevich on the East Slavic background (axiological aspect)” (Greifswald, Germany; St. Petersburg, Russia); Professor Felix Chyzhevsky “Local names as a source of knowledge about the appellation vocabulary that is disappearing (on the example of the microtoponym Bakhur near Bila Podlaska)” (Poland, Lublin). The conference was moderated by the Head of the Department of Ukrainian Language of Uzhhorod National University, Doctor of Philology, Professor Natalia Venzhynovych.
