On June 15-16, the International Scientific Conference “Traditions and Challenges of Ukrainian Studies in the Modern World” was held at the University of Warsaw, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Department of Ukrainian Studies of the University of Warsaw. Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies, Associate Professor of the Department of General and German Linguistics Valentina Vasylivna Greshchuk and Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language Greshchuk Vasyl Vasyliovych took part in the conference. Scientists of Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpattia National University presented their report “Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies at Prykarpattia National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk: history and prospects”, in which they outlined the activity of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies from the beginning of its establishment to today and outlined the prospects of work . The authors rightly point out that “From the first days of operation, the Institute of Ukrainian Studies declared itself as a powerful center of serious Ukrainian studies. In the first five years alone, two dozen monographs and more than a hundred articles in scientific journals and anthologies were prepared and published here.”
At the sectional meeting, the topical problems of Ukrainian studies were also touched upon in other reports, namely: “Current problems of Ukrainian linguistics on the pages of the journal “Studia Ucrainica Varsoviesia”: an aspectual review (2013–2023: up to the 10-year anniversary)” (Prof. Tetyana Kosmeda) , “Traditions of the formation of Ukrainian studies in the world academic space” (assistant professor Larisa Korzh-Usenko), “Activities of the branches of the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies in Europe and the USA as a means of spreading Ukrainian studies in the modern world” (assistant professor Ilona Sivash), “Humanitarian front Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war” (Prof. Vasyl Chernets), “Organization of the educational process in higher education institutions of Ukraine in the conditions of martial law” (Prof. Vasyl Shinkaruk), “Cultural approach as a scientific and methodological problem in professional formation of a teacher-linguist” (Assoc. Nataliya Gogol), “(Un)utilized potential of Ukrainian studies in creating a positive image of Ukraine” (Natalia Lytvynchuk), “Ukrainian studies centers as centers of development of “soft power”” (Assoc. Oksana Tepla, Kateryna Kovtun).
The moderator of the meeting, doctor of philological sciences, professor of the Department of General and Applied Linguistics and Slavic Philology of the Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University Tetyana Kosmeda, noted the titanic work of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies and thanked for the interesting and relevant report and wished fruitful work in the future.
