Students of the 4th year of the Faculty of Philology under the guidance of the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Studies, assistant professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Language Greshchuk Valentyna Vasylivna held final classes from the course “Stylics and Culture of the Ukrainian Language”. The students were able to illustrate all the diversity of the Ukrainian word in speech.
The UMLso-41 group presented the control work, which consisted in reproducing the functional diversity of the word in different styles. The meeting took place in a mixed format. The undergraduates demonstrated the knowledge they had acquired during the academic year and managed to hold the event despite the landmines and worries throughout the day. The students spoke about the indomitability of the Ukrainian people and our soldiers, once again convinced themselves of the melodiousness, richness, and sincerity of our language. Students of higher education chose current topics and implemented them in different styles. And as Anastasia Martyniuk, a student of the UMLso-41 group, claims:
“They have proven that the Ukrainian word is a kind of weapon that repels enemies as well as the blows of speeding bullets. Therefore, let our bitter enemy know that he cannot wipe the indomitable Ukrainian people off the face of the earth.”
When completing the assigned task, the undergraduates showed their creativity and imagination, showed the ability to easily work in a team. Each of those present tried themselves in a new role, as Yulia Kravets, a student of the UMLso-41 group, writes:
“Someone became a scientist, a news anchor, a storyteller, a priest or a boss, and for some it was not necessary to get used to the role, because they skillfully demonstrated conversational speech”
During the preparation of the stagings, the students took into account the relevance of today, namely the realities of the war. All those present were moved by the daughter’s emotional letter to her father at the front.
During the class, students of the UMLf-41 group talked about Christmas Eve, its importance in the life of the Ukrainian people, how important this holiday is for everyone, in particular for our defenders. Christmas Eve is special, and at this time everyone believes in a miracle. The undergraduates recreated the atmosphere and traditions of celebrating Christmas Eve in a simple Ukrainian family.
As Iryna Dyakun, a student of the UMLf-41 group, notes:
“They have proven that our language and our traditions are a powerful weapon that can destroy the enemy. He will not be able to defeat the indomitable and free Ukrainian people with their language, culture, mentality and traditions that have been alive for centuries.”
As Oksana Isakiy, a student of the Uzso-41 group, shares in her post:
“Thanks to this task, we became like one team, because throughout the semester we prepared together and had online meetings”
The students are grateful to Valentina Vasylivna for interesting and meaningful classes on Stylistics and culture of the Ukrainian language, for clear and accessible explanations, as well as for the fact that Valentina Vasylivna showed the undergraduates that the Ukrainian language is not just a means of communication, but also an important part of our culture.
